Fernie Alpine Resort

Ski Tours Canada are snow travel specialists for the interior British Columbia ski resorts, including Fernie Alpine Resort, one of Canada’s premier ski-in/ski-out destinations.

Fernie is reputedly the powder snow capital of the world. It boasts challenging terrain for unequalled extreme skiing but also has an abundance of soft cruising runs for the intermediates and beginners.

Click here to book your holiday at Fernie online with Ski Tours Canada. Explore and book your equipment, accommodation, transfers, packages and lift passes using our hassle-free online booking system.

Located in the Kootenay Rockies region, Fernie is a 60-minute-drive from the Canadian Rockies International Airport in Cranbrook.  Fernie is also only a 3-hour drive from Calgary or 4 hours from Spokane (USA).

Fernie Alpine Resort is home to one of the largest youth ski teams in the country - the Fernie Alpine Ski Team (FAST).  Come see why so many kids have fun in Fernie!

Within the resort’s 1,013 hectares (2,504 acres) are 5 enormous bowls, glades, cliffs and cruising runs certain to satisfy every level of snow enthusiast.

The annual average snowfall is around 8.75m (29ft) so you won’t be short of the white stuff, even at the end of the season.

Fernie’s awesome powder snow blankets 107 designated trails. 10 modern lifts carry passengers up into the higher areas to a peak-height of 1,925m (6,316ft).

Ever wished you could have the whole mountain all to yourself?  Fernie's First Tracks program provides guests with the opportunity to experience untouched power or corduroy-perfect groomed runs before anyone else is on the mountain, while being guided by one of the Winter Sports School's top pros.

Fernie also offers that wonderful add-on to the perfect winter vacation – the chance to ski in and ski out of your own front door. There is more slope side accommodation being built each year offering many alternatives for guests.

And because the team at Ski Tours Canada know the resort intimately, we can advise you on the best accommodation to suit your needs.

An added bonus is the close proximity to another emerging ski resort – Kimberley Alpine Resort. Kimberley, a Bavarian-styled resort, is renowned for long cruising runs and the most sunshine of any resort in BC. Fabulous family skiing and the largest illuminated night skiing in the west add to its attraction. A 3-day or more multi-day pass allows you to ski at both Fernie and Kimberley.

Want more? Well, what about the local tours? Ice fishing for salmon and trout or a wildlife safari on the look out for grizzly bears.

Fernie Old Town is an attraction in itself too. Located a short 10-minute drive from Fernie Alpine Resort, it was devastated by fires in 1904. This led to new building laws and the town was rebuilt in only brick and stone. The beautiful historic buildings still survive in Fernie’s historic core.

Ski Tours Canada can design your personal snow holiday with as many extra services and activities as you like, from home-delivered groceries to fishing and golfing. After all, we are here to make your Fernie holiday unforgettable.
