Kelowna International Airport Upgrade
November 2006
Flight changes - From October 29 all Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz Flights in and out of Kelowna convert to Jet Service (except one).
This means that fly time between Calgary and Kelowna and Vancouver and Kelowna is cut to 40 minutes with increased luggage capacity.
By January 28 2007 Horizon between Seattle and Kelowna will convert all flights from Q200's (38 seats) to Q400's (72 seats).
2007 departure room expansion - a motion was carried unanimously to send recommendations to council and we should see improvements to the departure area within the next two years.
Simplified passenger processing initiative - you will see 16 computer check-in terminals installed in front of the ticket counters in the near future. Kelowna is one of the busiest airports in Canada where departing passengers use online pre-board seat allocation services. In other words, people are selecting their seats online and this new service will allow them to check-in faster. Counter service is becoming redundant. There will be a minimum number available in the future.
